A professional, instructor‑ready training sequence

PHASE 1 — Introduction & Documentation

Objectives: Familiarize student with APPI Power, safety expectations, and administrative requirements.

  1. Welcome & Orientation

    • Introduce APPI Power, school rules, training path (Adventure → Pilot).

  2. Complete paperwork

    • Student profile, medical info, emergency contacts, ID creation if needed.

  3. Briefing: What is paramotoring?

    • Overview of sport, risks, equipment categories, and safety culture.

PHASE 2 — Theory Foundation

Objectives: Build essential knowledge before any practical training.

  1. Lecture 1: Theory of Flight

    • Lift, drag, glide ratio, pitch/roll/yaw basics.

  2. Meteorology fundamentals

    • Wind layers, turbulence, thermal understanding, safe flying conditions (<10 mph wind for students).

  3. Air Law & Collision Avoidance

    • MOST IMPORTANT RULE: Avoid accidents at all costs.

PHASE 3 — Ground Handling & Wing Control

Objectives: Develop canopy control skills before adding a motor.

  1. Wing Introduction Session

    • Wing parts, harness, risers, trims, lines.

  2. Wing Care Training

    • Untangling, folding, packing, and maintenance.

  3. Ground Handling Practice

    • Forward inflation

    • Reverse inflation

    • Control in varying wind

    • Kiting drills

  4. Hand Towing Training

  • Controlled low‑altitude tows (<30 ft).

PHASE 4 — Motor Training (Ground Only)

Objectives: Ensure safe operation of powered equipment.

  1. Motor Safety Checklist

  • Pre‑start inspection

  • Throttle check

  • Frame/tank/prop integrity

  • Fuel & carburetor checks

  1. Safe Start Procedures

  • Electric and/or pull‑start protocols

  • Propeller safety angles

  • No‑go zones

  1. Wearing the Motor Session

  • Posture

  • Throttle modulation

  • Walking runs with motor on idle

  1. Hang Test & Harness Adjustment

  • Center of gravity, comfort, reserve handle location

  • Reserve deployment practice (simulated)

  1. Pre‑Solo Flight Simulation

  • Full sequence from preflight to simulated landing.

PHASE 5 — Optional Tandem Intro Flight

(If instructor holds APPI PPG Tandem license)
16. Tandem Familiarization Flight

  • Demonstrate takeoff, coordinated turns, landings.

PHASE 6 — First Solo Flights (Adventure Pilot Requirements)

Objectives: Safely achieve first independent air time.

  1. SKILLS CHECK Before Solo

  • Preflight

  • Site assessment

  • Weather analysis

  • Motor usage competence
    citeturn2search2

  1. Flight 1 – First Solo

  • 20–30 min multiple circuits

  • Light wind (<10 mph), open unobstructed area.

  1. Flight 2 – Solo Consolidation

  • Multiple circuits, smooth conditions, altitude discipline.

  1. Progressive Flight Tasks (Flights 4–11)
    Typical milestones include:

  • Low passes (no lower than 30 ft)

  • Figure‑8 turns

  • S‑turn patterns

  • Climb to 1000–1500 ft

  • Spot landings (50 m → 25 m accuracy progression)

PHASE 7 — Navigation & Pilot Development (Pilot‑Level Path)

Objectives: Build independence for solo flying at new sites.

  1. Advanced Theory

  • Flight planning

  • Navigation

  • Airspace rules

  • Motor effects on wing behavior
